Narcotic Instructor 1

This instructor is currently assigned as a Detective on a Mid-Level Narcotic Enforcement Squad with one of the largest police departments in the United States.   In 2003, he was selected to work on a violent crime task force with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.  While on the ATF Task Force, he completed numerous long-term undercover operations targeting organized violent gang members, involved in the illegal sale of narcotics and firearms.  In addition to making hundreds of drug buys, he has purchased dozens of firearms that included: common street weapons, machine guns, sawed-off shot guns, and a grenade launcher.  The instructor also worked undercover on three separate Title III wiretap investigations with DEA.  All of these investigations led to significant seizures of drugs, currency, and assets.  He continues to infiltrate some of the most violent gangs operating in the United States.

In 2009, while working in an undercover capacity, this instructor and his partners were able to infiltrate a violent drug trafficking organization, posing as large-scale drug traffickers.  During their "initiation stages", the instructor was a target of the violence perpetrated by the gang members.  Firearms were repeatedly utilized and brandished by the gang members during undercover transactions, in an effort to intimidate the instructor.  On each occasion, he utilized superior tactics and techniques to safely walk away from the dangerous situations he encountered.  In addition to making undercover purchases of narcotics, the instructor traveled to various night clubs located in the with the gang members.  While at the night clubs, he witnessed the violent activities that the gang members were involved in on multiple occasions.  On several occasions, he was a target of the violence perpetrated by the suspects.

As a result of the investigation, the unit seized approximately three (3) kilograms of Cocaine with a street value at $300,000, fourteen (14) high powdered firearms, $210,000 of U.S. Currency and other seized assets.  Most importantly, 28 violent gang members were removed from the streets.

Jim Jacks, United States Attorney, applauded  "the hard work, innovation and teamwork exhibited to bring down this drug trafficking operation; the residents in this city should sleep better tonight."
